Job description
Township Constables deal with disturbances, emergencies, violation of the law, fire and rescue operations, weather crisis, and citizen calls for help. Arkansas Constables are voluntary, Constitutionally-elected peace officers who are uniformed, equipped and trained to State statute and standards. They constitute a significant law enforcement presence in our counties.
Eligibility requirements
Must be a U. S. citizen, must be an Arkansas resident, must reside within their respective township, justice of the peace district, or county to be represented, must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age, must be lawfully registered to vote, must never have been convicted of embezzlement of public money, bribery, forgery, or other infamous crime, and must not be appointed or elected to any other civil office.
